The inaugural event was run on Saturday April 3, 1999 starting at 10:00 AM sharp under cool cloudy skies and honored by the presence of some of rural New England's finest running enthusiasts. A force of local volunteers was organized into action and received the 200 runners for this memorial tribute event. Top male finisher, Richard Bolt of Pepperill, Mass. managed a 5:10 per mile pace and crossed the finish line in 16:03 with Gilford, NH's Fergus Cullen a close 16:20 for the 3.1 mile loop. Third place Kent Thompson of Hampton, NH followed five seconds later with a 16:25. Cathy Allen of Jackson, NH showed her ever resilient form, and set the women's course standard with a 19:32, (6:18 pace) with Christine Reaser of Dayton, Maine following with 19:43 and Concord's Amy Ireland with 3rd honors at 20:48. |

The Benefit The proceeds of the Race are divided between the Sant Bani School's All Weather Track Fund, and the Gilmanton Youth Organization. Volunteers from the Sant Bani School and Gilmanton work together under the direction of Scott and Jamie Clark of Gilmanton. Scott, an All-American runner is a Teacher and Coach at Sant Bani School and third generation resident of Gilmanton living on Meadow Farm. |
